1 plus 2 = A winning combination!

No, our math is NOT bad.  But when you have members of Lincoln’s Top Two Cover Bands appearing onstage together you definitely get a win-win-win for the crowd!

And that is what took place on Friday, June 10th at Celebrate Lincoln! – when The Wheezetones, voted #1 in the Journal-Star’s Music Madness contest and Soul Dawg, voted #2 – took the stage to bring the night’s festivities to a close.

The Wheezetones and Soul Dawg had talked about performing together prior to being asked to headline Celebrate Lincoln! on Friday, June 10th.  And why not?  These guys have know each other for years.  Some of them have even played in earlier bands.  Paul Burner (The Wheezetones) and Kevin Moore (Soul Dawg) played together in Fragile, and BD Roads. John Ballew (The Wheezetones) and Ted Larson (The Wheezetones and Soul Dawg) played their first gig together.

All-in-all, it was a fitting way to end the night.  Great music.  Great friends.  Classic songs.  “The founding fathers” so-to-speak, of Lincoln’s rock-n-roll scene.

And the best part?  There will be another chance to catch both these bands!  That’s right!  The Wheezetones and Soul Dawg will appear on New Year’s Eve at Pershing Auditorium.  This will be your chance to rock out at Pershing – just like in the old days!

It just doesn’t get any better than this!
